Attractions

The local area has retained much of its natural beauty and views because of planning regulations which prevent new buildings being built higher than three floors above ground level.

The local park is approximately three minutes stroll from your apartment.

In La Cala you can find virtually everything that you will need. There are  shopping precincts, several banks, numerous restaurants and bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, medical centres, car rental, post office, bureau de change and a "road train" which travels through much of the local area and to the shops.

There is a nice longe beach,  walking distance from the apartment.

Near is Puerto Cabopino is a quaint harbour with several bars / restaurants and a large sandy beach where there are facilities for several water sports. A visit to Albert's Restaurant on the harbour front is highly recommended by the locals. The food is excellent and usually served from breakfast until evening meal. La Cala has an equally stunning beach and restaurants, without the harbour.

Nearby is Miraflores, a popular golf and lawn bowls resort and then Mijas, Andalucías most popular white village, which is situated slightly further northeast in the hills.

LA Cala  is approximately 20 minutes from Málaga International Airport.

Cosmopolitan Marbella City is renowned for its shopping by day. By night there is a thriving night-life (approximately 10 minutes drive).

Puerto Banus is famous for its popularity with the "jet set" visitors. Keep your eyes open, you never know who you will see here but a word of warning, look don't buy, prices here are much more expensive than most other areas (approximately 20 minutes drive).

Gibraltar You can visit the historic tunnels which have been literally carved through "The Rock" during various wars, visit the famous apes high on the island, visit the natural grotto's where they hold underground concerts or just enjoy some of the islands popular duty free shopping. Alternatively you could take a Dolphin and Whale Safari off Gibraltar by boat or take a day trip to the African mainland. It's a fair drive but we think its worth it (approximately 90 minutes drive).

Fuengirola 10min drive

Parque Aquatico Mijas
Another great water-park, with lots of splash areas. Nice Aqualandia area for the kids. Smaller than the AquaPark.

HIPODROMO - 5min drive

Horse Racing
Recently opened in the town of La Cala the fabulous Hipodromo Horse Race Track which makes an exciting night out where you can have a flutter in the fantastic atmosphere of a full size racetrack, with restaurants, bars, live music and entertainment for all the family - Highly recommended!

Benalmadena - 20min drive

Tivoli World
The biggest Theme Park on the Costa Del Sol. This is a must for all. Open from early evening till midnight. Sunday's Flea market in the morning, then funfair in afternoon & evening.

Telecabina
Ride on this Cable Car starting near Tivoli World and taking you right up to the scenic mountains of Benalmadena.Ride approx 20 minutes.

Sea Life
Visit this breathtaking world of the hidden underwater wildlife, with stunning displays. A truly fascinating experience for all the family.

Dolphin Safari
Go out to sea in these specially adapted large boats in search of Dolphins. The rides allow you to actually touch the Dolphins.

Selwo Marina
Selwo brings the Marina live on the cost. Spectacles, Dolphins, marine lions, flamingos, serpents...  Selwo is an experience for everyone.

Torremolinos - 20min drive

Aqua Park
The biggest water-park in Europe. Huge choice of attractions for all ages. Giant water slides, Wild River and the Kamikaze to name a few. Young kids get their own separate area.

Estepona - 30min drive

Selwo Adventure Safari
Selwo brings the African wilderness to Spain. From elephants to tigers, Lions to Buffaloes. Selwo is an experience for everyone.

Street Markets

The Costa del Sol has many street markets and the bargains are there to be had. Good buys include; leather goods, hand-made jewellery, linen and ceramics. Because of the closeness to Morocco there are also many Arabic items; metalwork, pottery,etc.
